What Are HD Aluminum Metal Prints?
HD aluminum metal prints are created through a cutting-edge dye-sublimation process beginning with a white or clear-coated piece of .045″ aluminum metal. The image is printed on a transfer paper with archival pigment inks, registered onto the aluminum, and run through a high-temperature heat-press uniting the image and metal.
From this transfer, the image is permanently affixed to the surface of the aluminum, creating a long-lasting, sleek piece of art with breathtaking detail and resolution. A 3/4″ wooden platform is adhered to the back of the aluminum creating a ready-to-hang frameless masterpiece. Since the advent of digital inkjet printing on unorthodox materials, custom HD aluminum metal prints have been on the rise. It has become not only a celebrated treatment and display option in the world of fine art exhibition, over the past few years the treatment has also made its way into the home.
There are four available finishes for this process: White Gloss, White Matte, Silver Gloss, and Silver Matte. The White Gloss and White Matte options begin with an opaque bright-white coating in either a gloss or matte finish, whereas the Silver Gloss and Silver Matte begin with a clear coat that emulates the metal of the raw aluminum. The “White” finishes are ideal for all photography and most artworks, while the stylized and unpredictable nature of the “Silver” finishes lends itself to high-contrast imagery as the bright areas are where the “raw” metal really shines through. If you are not sure which is right for your image, we are always happy to advise and provide recommendations.
HD Aluminum metal prints display astounding vibrancy and detail and are the most durable of all printing processes.
